Digimon Reboot Episode 29 - Wilted Rose

“Where has it gotten me, fighting every step of the way?”

Okay. SO LET ME TELL YOU MY FEELINGS ABOUT ROSE..

I FUCKING LOVE HER.

She has turned around from being a character that was manic and a bit crazy, and then you actually get to see how damaged she is.

I adore the background we gave to the Divine family and the twins. It shows how people adapt differently to nature/nuture and… yeah.

Rose is one of the most, if not THE MOST, interesting character in Reboot for me. She craves the attention and approval of her peers more than anything and has been desiring that all her life. She has wanted the love and affection from her mother because she could never receive it from their father after he died.

She would do anything and everything to make Bella happy, to at the expense of her own sanity and probably her own life. Giving herself over to Mukademon’s influence without even realising it and becoming this entity of anger.

Honestly, writing the setting where she is basically a living, walking zombie was really interesting for me. And difficult at the same time. I had to use my own experiences of feeling that way when I’ve had my worst depressive episodes. Where I have literally laid in bed for a few days at a time and not got up except to use the bathroom. Where I’ve not wanted to sleep, not wanted to move, not wanted to do anything.

Hatimon here turns into the parent that Rose should have had all along. Trying to help and talk to her as best she can. But ultimately she has to go to Hunter, who still shows how much his sister means to him.

I love, love, LOVE the twins relatinship and how that has changed through the series too. How you SEE Rose and Hunter’s relationship soften towards one another as they realise they have only one another to rely on. One another and these new friends they are making and slowly gaining the trust of.

I had no idea when we created these twins they would eventually be so pivitol to the story and so important to me. I love these guys, and this whole fictional family. I think if they were real, they would be fascinating

Digimon Reboot Episode 21 - Thunderstruck

“I’ve tried. And I know its selfish of me to be frightened of him when he’s probably more frightened of himself. But I just… I can’t let this one go.”

Probably one of my personal favorite episodes of Reboot.

I really enjoy how I wrote it. The conflict and unrest between Eva and Irbimon was a very interesting piece to right because they weren’t arguing, it was just a communication break down.

The resolution too, of Eva and Irbimon where she accepted that he might evolve into SkullSkadimon every time was nice to write too.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode. Writing it and reading the finished product. :]

Pretty sure I cried after reading Bek’s awesome writing. I keep toying with the idea of doing a quick animation test of the end of the first scene, but considering how (not) on top of things I am, and the fact that I just don’t like animation as much as I thought I did…. yeah.

Fun fact: I wanted to call this episode “Welcome Back Winter”, from a lyric in Irbimon’s theme song, but we figured it would give away what happens.

Digimon Reboot Episode 16 - Adding Insult to Injury

“If he gets any further into town he could kill someone.”

Ahhh~ The episode that caused some confusion as to why Irbimon evolved into SkullSkadimon and how it kind of came out of no where.

Admittedly, we did want to have a corrupt evolution as a homage to Adventure 01 and SkullGreymon, and I suppose the lead up to it wasn’t thrown exactly into the limelight, it was more subtle than Tai hvaing his crest and trying to force Agumon to evolve.

The reason for it, was Eva’s changing attitude to Irbimon. He was so used to her doing everything his way and never really contrdicting him or not doing what he wanted, that her sudden change, to treat him and Tom more fairly was a shock.

It was quite downplayed, and could have used more explanation, I admit. But… I always felt it made sense.

*shrug*

Well at least we tried to make it clearer by explaining more later on |D LEARNING EXPERIENCE!

I like SkullSkadimon. He’s creepier than I expected him to come out >3>

All I can say is: that is the biggest DDR machine in the world. I don’t know what I was (or wasn’t) thinking, but it’s apparently about 9-10 feet tall. If not taller.
